Arson attack near York put farm and livestock in danger

Police and fire chiefs are investigating a suspected arson attack in North Yorkshire which put farms, buildings and livestock at risk.

A pile of tyres in a field at Grey Leys Farm,in Elvington were set alight and six fire crews had to try to quickly gain control of the blaze before it reached neighbouring properties including farm houses and buildings containing livestock.

It happened at around 4pm on Monday and police are conducting enquiries into the full circumstances, in particular they are appealing for information about how the fire was started and who was involved.
