Arson fears as blazedestroys church

A 19th century church was destroyed by a "suspicious" fire yesterday.

Only the external brickwork of St Mary’s Church in Westry, near March in Cambridgeshire, remains after the blaze, a fire service spokeswoman said.

The alarm was raised at 10.15am and seven crews attempted to tackle the blaze.

The spokeswoman said: “A fire investigation is to take place and it is being treated as suspicious.”
