Art donations go on display

CURATOR of visual art at Sheffield Museums Liz Waring hangs Tropopause by Paul Morrison yesterday, one of three new works which have been donated to the city’s Graves Art Gallery.

Morrison’s 2012 work, donated by the artist himself, will join Hew Locke’s Kingdom of the Blind #4 and #8 as part of a new exhibition at the venue. The Locke works were given to the city by an anonymous benefactor.

A gallery spokesman said the art collector had wanted to see works displayed in Sheffield and Locke himself suggested the donation.

The new works go on display alongside the Damien Hirst work, Beautiful Morana Dysgeusia Painting for Jarvis (with Diamonds).

That was given to the gallery on a long-term loan last year by Jarvis Cocker, the Sheffield-born frontman of the band, Pulp.
