Artist re-creates the beauty of park landscape in metal

For the past year, the artist has explored the landscape of the park, near Worksop, in all seasons, collecting inspirational plants, grasses and other items to re-create as metal artworks.

Some are copies of the source material – acorns attached to twigs, lime tree seeds and sycamore keys – while others are reinterpretations. She has attempted to replicate in as much detail as possible the essence of flora and fauna in the parkland.

Her workshop, in the mezzanine space of the Discovery Centre each day between October 24 and 30, will allow visitors to view Laura’s work and give feedback.

Ms Baxter is one of a number of artists who have worked on site at Clumber Park this year, with some responding to modern-day concerns such as sustainability and climate change and others simply seeking to replicate the natural environment.

Trevor Pressley, visitor service manager, said: “We’re really excited to be working with Laura on this project, and we’ve enjoyed the work that the artists have created throughout their time here.

“It’s interesting to see how others interpret this beautiful park.”
