Artists holding open day so members of the public can see them at work

ARTISTS at an East Yorkshire farm are throwing open their stable doors later this month so the public can see them at work.

The six resident artists and craftspeople at Calf House Studios, at Cold Harbour Farm, Bishop Burton, will offer a behind-the-scenes look at their work during an Art And The Farm open day on Sunday, July 18, from 10am to 4pm.

The farm enjoys unspoilt views of Beverley and the Yorkshire Wolds and is home to a nest of studios for sculptor Peter Brown, tutor and jewellery maker Tracey Spurgin, stamp designer Lynnda Worsnop, photographer John Denton, and artists and tutors Graham Chambers and Janet Pelling.

The six will hold a free prize draw with the winner getting access to a workshop of their own or a chance to spend some studio time with the artist of their choice. Mr Denton is inviting visitors to bring a camera if they want to take part in informal photography classes around the farm.

Ms Spurgin said: "It's a great way to show people that art can be immense fun."

The owner of the studios, Heather Hayward added: "Due to the artists' teaching commitments around the UK the chances to see them all together are limited, so I urge people to make the most of this opportunity."
