Award honours life-saving inventor

A YOUNG woman who invented a fridge that works without electricity has been honoured with an award for one of the Top 10 Most Outstanding Young Persons in the World.

Emily Cummins, of Silsden, Keighley, has transformed lives in Africa through the fridge, which provides safer storage of medicines, and a water-carrying device.

She was nominated for the award by Junior Chamber International (JCI) Bradford for her hard work, commitment and creativity in helping others around the world and saving lives at just 23.

Miss Cummins said she was thrilled and honoured to receive the award.
