Award-winningrestaurant shut

An award-winning restaurant in York has closed with the loss of 20 jobs as the latest casualty of the collapse of a hospitality business in the city.

The owners of Harvilles, Chris and Emma Watkins, have shut the restaurant in Fossgate only a week after the Lamb and Lion Inn in High Petergate closed.

Harvilles opened in February 2007 after the de Bretton Hospitality Group spent 3m turning a former carpet warehouse into an art deco-themed restaurant and cocktail bar.

It was named the Eating Place of the Year in the York Tourism Awards For Excellence in 2008.
