Axed Strictly judge plans somefancy footwork for awards show

Arlene Phillips is to hit the dancefloor at tonight's National Television Awards.

Viewers used to watching the sharp-tongued judge evaluate others on their performances will instead be able to assess her fancy footwork.

The veteran choreographer, 66, will perform a routine in an Alexander McQueen frock to Christina Aguilera’s hit Ain’t No Other Man.

Phillips, who was axed from Strictly Come Dancing, will be accompanied by 10 finalists from So You Think You Can Dance, the BBC Saturday night show on which she sits as a panellist.

Her former Strictly colleagues will be sitting in the audience of the 02 arena in London as Phillips cements her TV comeback at the 15th anniversary National Television Awards.

The awards, hosted by Dermot O’Leary, will be broadcast live on ITV1 from 7.30pm.
