Baby boy in critical condition after A1 motorway crash

An eight-week old boy is in a critical condition in hospital after a crash on the A1 near Doncaster this afternoon.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash between a white Scania HGV and a red Mini Cooper.

It happened on the northbound carriageway, just after junction 36 for Warmsworth, at around 1.50pm.

The child was travelling in the Mini and was taken to hospital by air ambulance. His injuries were described as life threatening.

The southbound carriageway of the A1 was closed for a short period of time to allow for the Air Ambulance to land.

The 56-year-old man driving the HGV and the 42-year-old woman driving the Mini are not believed to have been injured.

Investigating offers want to speak to anyone travelling on the A1 around the same time, who witnesses the collision or saw either vehicle beforehand.
