Baby trauma turned into Lily Allen song

Lily Allen has revealed she has tackled the loss of her baby in a song.

The chart-topping singer, who is relaunching her pop career, lost a son six months into a pregnancy in 2010.

In an interview with Q she said the experience is referenced in a new song, while another track called Chipping Norton looks at a party attended by movers and shakers who included David Cameron and former newspaper boss Rebekah Brooks.

Allen, who has gone on to have two daughters – Ethel, two, and Marnie, one – said the unnamed song which deals with her baby was “a really sad, really powerful track”, although its inclusion on her third album has not been finalised.

“I hope it makes the final cut, because it’s a really important song to me,” she said, in her interview for the February edition.

Allen, 28, said she wanted to write songs which were “true and honest”, adding: “It’s no use just singing about being famous or rhyming ‘crazy’ with ‘baby’ a million times over.”

The singer announced a temporary retirement from the music business four years ago but has recently had a burst of chart activity when her cover of Keane’s Somewhere Only We Know went to number one after featuring in the John Lewis Christmas ad, and another single Hard Out Here made the top 10.

Her track Chipping Norton discusses a party held in 2011 by PR man Matthew Freud, attended by powerful figures who live around the Oxfordshire village.
