Baby's life saved by barking pet

A devoted family pet saved a baby's life when it alerted his mother by barking when the boy stopped breathing

King Charles spaniel Millie had been asleep at the side of the five-month-old's cot which was in the front room of his home in Wetherby. The normally quiet spaniel's insistent barking led mother Beverley Forrester to check on her son and, realising he was not breathing, she snatched him up and was able to revive him. James, who is now 18 months old, has since been diagnosed with sleep apnoea, a breathing disorder. Millie is a contender in the Dogs' Trust 2010 Awards.
