A BIN bag containing thousands of pounds in cash was left on the doorstep of a former vicarage in York.

The householder at the property, which is now a private residence, was stunned to find the money on Tuesday, bin collection day for the area, and handed it into the police.

Officers have not revealed how much cash was in the bag and are trying to find out where it may have come from.
