Bail for man held over 22 year-old murder

A 52-year-old man arrested in connection with a murder in East Yorkshire 22 years ago has been released on bail.

The man, from Widdrington, Northumberland, was questioned in connection with the murder of Keith Slater, who was found stabbed at his home in Hessle in August 1988.

Humberside Police said the man had now been released on bail pending further inquiries and a file had been submitted to the Crown Prosecution Service.

The man was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder and soliciting another person to commit murder.

Another man - Martin Brown - was convicted of the killing in 2007 after he was extradited from Australia.
