Baildon golf club plans to build homes and a clubhouse

A GOLF club’s plans to demolish its existing clubhouse and build five houses have attracted critical letters from neighbours.

Baildon Golf Club has also applied for permission to convert a redundant waterworks building into a new clubhouse.

Although the disused building is within the green belt, Bradford Council planners say it should be acceptable.

A council report says: “Not only will the proposed new club house benefit the golf club, it will create much needed housing development following the demolition of the existing club house.”

Over 20 letters of objection have been sent to the council. Complaints relate to a loss of privacy, the impact on the landscape and on house prices. Some complained that the new houses will restrict views of Baildon Moor.

Councillors will discuss the plans at a meeting tomorrow.
