Bands pay tribute to producer

Tributes have been paid to music producer Martin Rushent, who worked with bands including the Human League and the Stranglers, after his death on Saturday aged 63.

Rushent, who won a Brit award for his work on the Human League’s hit album Dare, also worked with T Rex, the Buzzcocks and Fleetwood Mac in a long career.

His son James, who is a member of Does It Offend You, Yeah?, broke the news on his Twitter and Facebook page.

A statement released by his band said: “Martin Rushent was not just James’s dad, but also someone very involved with the shaping of DIOYY and countless other musicians he worked with.

“He had an amazing character and was great friend to all of us. Rest in peace, sitting at your mixing desk in the sky. x.”

BBC Radio 6 Music DJ Lauren Laverne said Rushent was “such a talented guy”.

There was also a tribute from the Stranglers.
