Band’s tribute to chip shop

A FISH and chip shop has become possibly the first in the world to have inspired a brass band march to be written about it.

Composer Andy Norman, 48, was so moved by the generosity of the Corries Cabin takeaway in Cowes, Isle of Wight, that he decided to pen the piece of music for the shop.

The conductor of the Cowes Concert Brass Band wrote the music after the shop’s proprietor Richard Quigley donated to the group £250 collected during a fundraising event.

Mr Norman said: “I have written several pieces of music for the band over the years and when I heard we were getting help from Corries Cabin, I thought it would be nice to write a piece in honour of the shop.

“A framed copy of the music is to be presented to Mr Quigley to hang on the wall of the shop.”
