Bank offers safe havens
for charity

PEOPLE with learning difficulties are being given new safe havens if they get lost or confused in Kirklees.

The Mencap in Kirklees Safe Places scheme has joined forces with six branches of the Halifax bank in the area to offer the help.

Staff are being trained to offer support through listening, helping directly or contacting help using the telephone numbers written on an individual’s Safe Places card.

Samantha Jones, Safe Places co-ordinator from Mencap in Kirklees, thanked the Halifax for its support.

“The expansion of the safe places scheme to all six Halifax branches in Kirklees will enable our participants to know that if ever they are confused, frightened or need help when they go out that the bank will provide a safe haven,” she said.
