Bank worker in naked hotel incident loses harassment claim

AN HBOS manager from West Yorkshire who accused her bosses of failing to act when she was sexually harassed, has lost her claim of constructive dismissal against the bank.

Last year, Haley Tansey, 39, from Hebden Bridge told a tribunal about a series of incidents during her 17-year career at HBOS.

She highlighted one 12 years ago in which, she said, a married colleague tricked his way into her hotel room during a business trip and stripped naked.

Mrs Tansey said there had been a tolerance of sexual behaviour at HBOS and said she had been left traumatised by a series of incidents.

During the tribunal in Leeds she denied she was claiming to have been sexually harassed simply to secure a 600,000 payout.

Today, Mrs Tansey's solicitor Simon Bass confirmed her claim of constructive dismissal had not been successful.

He said she was considering whether to appeal.

"She is devastated by the failure of the tribunal to find against HBOS," Mr Bass said.

In a statement, HBOS said: "Harassment in the workplace is wholly unacceptable.

"Lloyds Banking Group takes such issues very seriously. Any complaints of harassment made by members of staff are fully investigated and disciplinary action is taken where appropriate. It is not our policy, however, to comment on individual cases."
