Barnes booked for rare public appearance

PRIZE-winning author Julian Barnes will make a rare public appearance when he talks to students at the University of Hull.

Barnes, whose novel The Sense of an Ending won the prestigious Man Booker Prize in 2011, is visiting the university next Monday.

The 67 year-old author will meet students who have received copies of his novel through the Booker Prize Foundation’s universities initiative and answer questions about the book.

The event has been organized by Professor Martin Goodman, director of the Philip Larkin Centre, who described the Booker Trust universities initiative as “part of our investment in the power of reading for all students.” The project encourages first-year students at universities across the UK to read the best contemporary literary fiction.

The event is free to students, and a limited number of spaces are available to the public. For more information call 01482 465 620.
