Barristers appointed QCs

FOUR barristers based in Yorkshire are among 129 new Queen's Counsel announced today.

Paul Greaney and Simon Phillips are both members of Park Court Chambers in Leeds.

Mr Greaney, who is married to a fellow barrister, was educated at Bradford Grammar School before studying law at Durham University.

Mr Phillips, who was called to the Bar in 1985, studied law at Sussex Unversity and Trinity Hall, Cambridge. He is married with three children and sits as a Crown Court Recorder.

Michelle Colborne, a member of Broadway House Chambers in Bradford, was called to the Bar in 1993. She is a specialist in criminal cases involving sexual offences but also has an interest in mental health law.

Another barrister celebrating double silk in the family is John Elvidge, a member of York Chambers, whose wife Gillian Matthews is also already a QC.
