Bass player helps travellers get the lowdown on district's festival plans

New music festivals are cropping up everywhere these days but the platform of Bingley train station makes for an unlikely venue.

So commuters will have been a little shocked on Wednesday evening to find double bass player Rus Pearson performing in a tuxedo and

wellies – the ideal festival fashion.

Pearson was just one of a number of musicians on the Airedale line between Bradford and Skipton to help publicise the Moor Music Festival which takes place next month at Heslaker Farm near Skipton.

This year the festival is going "ultra-local". Internationally renowned dance favourite Luke Pompey, from nearby Gargrave, will take time out from Ibiza's famous Filth parties to cement his reputation on home ground. Unsigned local bands will perform, including Skipton-bred indie outfit Tender Hooligans, as well as Talk to Angels, The Luminaries and Meet me in Vegas. There will also be a performance by local hero James Welsh with his highly acclaimed dance outfit Ocelot.

Tickets for the festival, from August 12 to 15, are available on www.moormusicfestival.co.uk
