Bean backs campaign for cancer suite

Hollywood star Sean Bean is backing a £1.3m campaign to create a new cancer treatment facility at a Sheffield hospital.

The Lord of the Rings actor has been announced as the face of Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity’s Do Your Bit campaign.

The Sheffield-born star, whose father was treated at Weston Park, is urging people to donate to the charity, take part in an event or organise their own fundraiser.

Money raised will go towards creating a world-class Cancer Research and Treatment Suite, which will offer patients the most up-to-date treatments and therapies.

Do Your Bit is also being supported by not-for-profit insurance provider Westfield Health.

Bean said: “This new facility will provide the very best in treatment for thousands of people living with cancer. Cancer touches all of our lives at some point.

“My dad has been treated at the hospital, so I know what a wonderful cause it is. I am urging everyone to get behind the campaign.”
