Behind the lines: Afghanistan comes to Yorkshire (VIDEO)

MILITARY personnel from 90 Signals Unit have been conducting an exercise with various communications equipment at RAF Leeming in North Yorkshire this week.

The base near Northallerton is making a name for itself in the RAF and wider military as a centre of excellence when it comes to redeployment exercises for the armed forces before postings to the Middle East.

The signals operation was one of a number of training exercises taking place this week, as RAF chiefs

underlined the amount of time that goes into preparing pilots for overseas service. The RAF says the Leeming base plays a key role in supporting front-line operations through work involving 15 Squadron of Tornado GR4 bombers, the RAF Regiment and forward air controllers.
