Bid for Doctor Who’s wardrobe

THE chance to dress like a Time Lord is up for auction this month as a collection of Doctor Who costumes worth an estimated £17,400 goes under the hammer.

The most valuable piece in the 36-item collection is a wedding guest outfit sported by the current Doctor Who, Matt Smith, in 2010 episode The Big Bang, comprising a black jacket, black trousers, white shirt, cream coloured silk scarf, top hat and Smith’s signature bow tie. Those hoping to channel the unique style that GQ’s Most Stylish Man Of The Year 2011 has brought to the role can expect to pay between £1,200 and £1,800 for the privilege.

Another highlight is a three-piece suit worn by David Tennant which is expected to fetch between £1,000 and £1,500.

The outfits have been put up for sale by Angels The Costumiers, a supplier of costumes to the film, theatre and television industries.

They will go on sale ion December 15 at Bonhams, Knightsbridge, London.
