Bid to sue police over inquiry fails

THE family of a missing student have failed in their bid to bring a civil case against the police force that investigated his disappearance.

Russell Bohling’s family were attempting to sue Humberside Police over what they claimed were flaws in the inquiry that followed his disappearance in March last year.

But Recorder David Bradshaw has rejected the application at Hull Combined Courts Centre.

Russell’s father, Roger Bohling, said: “This means there is no process whereby you can criticise the police decision making process before a court in England. It seems as though there is an immunity for the police and that’s unhealthy. This would have been a landmark case.”

Russell was 18 when he went missing on March 2, 2010. His car was found abandoned at Bempton Cliffs nature reserve near Bridlington.
