Biker hurt in Wakefield hit-and-run crash

A MOTORCYCLIST was seriously injured in a collision from which the other road user involved fled the scene in Crofton, Wakefield.

The 53-year-old was in collision with a Ford Transit van on the A638 Doncaster Road junction with West Lane.

But the van made off and was found burned out in Sharlston, said West Yorkshire Police.

The occupants fled but a man in his late 20s has since been arrested in connection with this incident and enquiries are ongoing to trace the other occupants.

The motorcyclist was taken to Leeds General Infirmary by air ambulance.
