Bins used for speed warning

A BID to prevent speeding motorists plaguing a Yorkshire district is using roadside wheelie bins in an attempt to ensure drivers stick to the limit.

The Harrogate District Community Safety Partnership has come up with an innovative way to try and reduce the speed of drivers by placing warning stickers on the side of bins which have been left out for collection by the side of the road. The free stickers are being delivered to residents for them to stick on their wheelie bins. The first phase of the Slow Down project is on Forest Moor Lane, Knaresborough, and other speeding blackspots identified include Spofforth, Little Ribston and Sharow.
