Biologist’s photographs focus on nature’s greatest glories

Dr Neblik grew up in Northallerton, but left to pursue a career in science at the Universities of London and Oxford, working as a research biologist for a further five years as a science fellow for The Royal Commission for the Exhibition of 1851, based at Oxford’s zoology department).

But in recent years she has focused on animal colouration, a technique experimenting with different lighting conditions, filters and films to produce the best possible images of subjects for research and publication

As part of the work, she has taken spectacular photographs of animals and plants up mountains, underwater and across 19 countries and four continents.

She has also become a successful wildlife writer, with her work featuring in various scientific journals and magazines.

Now she has returned to North Yorkshire for her new exhibition, called Dreaming of the Natural World, which has gone on display at the Stone Cross headquarters of Hambleton District Council until July 25.

The building is open to the public from 8.45am to 5.15pm Monday to Thursday and 8.45am to 4.45pm every Friday.
