Bishop set to fast in solidarity with hunger victims

The Rt Rev Tony Robinson helped stock up St Catherine’s Emergency Food bank in Wakefield yesterday as he prepared to join a number of fasting bishops to raise awareness that 1 in 8 people around the world go hungry.

Bishop Tony will give up food today (Thurs) to draw attention to the millions living without adequate food.

He said: “I am fasting as a way of identifying with the millions of people who are struggling to feed themselves in our world today, both those in poor countries and increasing numbers of people in our own country. The number of food parcels distributed by our churches within the Diocese has increased beyond everyone’s expectation in a relatively wealthy country. And I have experienced first hand how little many families in poor countries have to live on when I have visited our link dioceses in Pakistan and Tanzania.”
