FOOTBALL hero Matt Lowton tried out a series of activities yesterday ahead of the opening of an interactive exhibition which explores the science of sport.
Sports Lab opens at Sheffield's Weston Park at the end of the month and has been created by Museums Sheffield in partnership with Sheffield Hallam University's Centre for Sports Engineering Research,
The footballer was given a preview of the exhibition by Museums Sheffield curators Teresa Whittaker and Alistair McLean and Dr David James from Hallam University's Centre for Sports Engineering Research.
Lowton, who is a defender at Bramall Lane said: "Sheffield's got a great sporting history and really bright sporting future and it's really good to see an exhibition that celebrates that.
"Sheffield United is delighted to support Sports Lab as it mirrors what the club is doing to encourage children and families to get interested in sport and learn more about the ways they can stay fit."
Sports Lab: The Science Behind the Medals opens on Saturday January 29, with a launch day event including demonstrations by members of the British Wheelchair Basketball Team and the Trials Mountain Bike Display Team. There will also be a climbing wall for visitors to test.
The exhibition continues until November 20.
