Blaze-hit families salvage belongings

Families salvage personal belongings after a fire ripped through five terrace houses in New Holland, North Lincolnshire.

Two men were in stable condition in hospital yesterday after the blaze, believed to have started in a kitchen, quickly spread through the attics of properties in Regent Terrace, forcing residents to evacuate.

A 33-year-old man and a 62-year-old man were rushed to Hull Royal Infirmary. The younger man has since been transferred to a specialist burns unit at Wythenshawe Hospital, Manchester.

Police said the fire, which broke out on Monday night, was not being treated as suspicious. Picture: Terry Carrott
