Blue and white army to salute Terriers

HUDDERSFIELD Town fans will turn the streets into a sea of blue and white tonight as the team takes to an open-top bus to celebrate promotion to the Championship.

The club is inviting fans to wear their colours and make some noise as the players travel from the stadium to the town centre.

Players will appear on the Town Hall balcony along with club officials and the manager Simon Grayson.

The bus will leave the Galpharm Stadium at 5.15pm and make its way to Huddersfield Town Hall for 5.45 for a civic reception.

As members of the team appear on the Town Hall balcony, interviews will be broadcast with chairman Dean Hoyle, manager Simon Grayson and some of the players.

The club’s chief executive, Nigel Clibbens, said: “This is sure to be a fantastic and emotional occasion and the club would love to see as many of you as possible cheer the lads into the town centre. Let’s turn the town – your town – into Huddersfield Town.”

A club spokesman said: “Get down, wear your blue and white, bring your flags, make some noise and help us celebrate promotion to the Championship.”

The bus will depart the stadium via Stadium Way, through the St Andrew’s car park, and then travel up Gasworks Street and Lower Fitzwilliam Street before driving along the top side of the ring road.

The bus will leave the ring road, head past the bus station and then down Ramsden Street before parking on Corporation Street.

Huddersfield beat rivals Sheffield United on penalties after a dramatic and nail-biting penalty shoot-out at Wembley on Saturday.

The tension was such that manager Simon Grayson couldn’t watch the penalties, preferring instead to have a chat and a joke with chairman Dean Hoyle.
