POLICE searching for a teenager who went missing during a night out in York, recovered a body from a river today.

Jonathan Havron, 18, from Huntington, York, was last seen by his friends in a York wine bar on Friday February 26.

A spokeswoman for North Yorkshire Police said a body had been discovered at the Foss Islands Basin in the centre of York.

Mr Havron was last seen by his friends in Yates's wine bar at 9.30pm on that Friday, but was later believed to have visited The Artful Dodger.

Mr Havron's family described him as a "happy student" and said his disappearance was "extremely unusual".

The teenager's mother, Joanne Wigmore, and 24-year-old sister Nikita Ashby appealed for anyone with information to come forward.

The family said Mr Havron enjoyed nights in with his friends, playing on his Xbox, reading and listening to music.

He was studying uniformed services at Bishop Burton College, East Yorkshire, and wanted to join the Territorial Army and the police.
