Body found by police in search for missing walker

A body has been found by police officers who have been searching for a walker who went missing in the North York Moors.

Stephen Gibson, 73, from Terrington, near Malton, was last seen on Wednesday afternoon by a group he had been with in Rosedale, near Chimney Bank.

North Yorkshire Police confirmed that the body of a man, which has not been formally identified, was found at Cropton.

A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said Mr Gibson’s family has been informed.
