Body found in search for missing Emmerdale actor
Police and mountain rescue teams had been searching for Mr Smith, 42, who had not been seen since Monday night.
Police had become concerned for his safety and called on the specialist services of mountain rescue to search disused quarries and rural areas near his home Wirksworth, Derbyshire.

Hide AdA body, which has not yet been formally identified, was located at Middle Peak quarry in Wirksworth. Police said there were no suspicious circumstances.
Twenty members of the rescue team, supported by a specialist search dog took part in the operation.
A team spokesman said: “It’s very sad that there was not a positive outcome to the search. We’d like to offer our condolences to the family and friends of the deceased person at this most difficult time.”
Mr Smith, also known by the surname Hancock, was described as having plaster casts on both his wrists when he was reported missing by relatives.

Hide AdHe appeared in Coronation Street in 1999 as estate agent Kevin Dolan, and in two episodes of Emmerdale playing a character called Tom. He was also seen in Hollyoaks, ITV’s The Memoirs of Sherlock Homes, and Channel 4 medical drama No Angels.
Derbyshire Police said in a statement: “Police searching for missing man have discovered a body in a Wirksworth quarry.
“Officers believe that the body found this afternoon is Trevor Smith, who was also known as Trevor Hancock. Police can confirm that there are no suspicious circumstances.”
