Body pulled from river is missing Ben

A BODY pulled from the River Calder in Wakefield is that of missing teenager Ben Manning, police said last night.

Ben, 17, of Swillington, Leeds, was reported missing on Saturday January 22 by his mother after he failed to return home from a night out in Wakefield.

Earlier this week his brother Lee, 29, wrote on the Facebook internet site that he believed Ben may have slipped into the river while walking close to the banking. He said Ben lacked swimming experience.

A police spokesman said the cause of death could not be established until toxicology tests were complete. His death is not being treated as suspicious, the spokesman added.
