Body recovered from canal

A BODY has been found in the Leeds and Liverpool canal after reports a man fell from a bridge.

West Yorkshire police and fire services launched a joint search operation just after 5pm yesterday after the man was seen falling into the canal near Concordia Street in Leeds city centre. A body was recovered at 7.30pm.

It is understood the police do not believe the death is suspicious.

A force spokesman said: “At 5.10pm we received a report of man falling into the water from a bridge near to Concordia Street in Leeds. A body was later recovered and the circumstances are under investigation.”
