Bond fans ‘shaken, not stirred’ as Moonraker project falls to earth

Over 600 people raised £25,000 on ‘crowd funding’ website Kickstarter for the score to Moonraker to be re-recorded by the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra.

The original master tapes were reportedly lost and a 1979 soundtrack is missing key elements.

But the plug has now been pulled by record label boss James Fitzpatrick who said: “It is with great regret that I have to cancel this Kickstarter project before any funds are taken. Certain rights issues have been raised which might mean protracted negotiations with the companies involved which may well go beyond the end of the project.

“I would sincerely like to thank everyone for their involvement in the project and if negotiations are successful then I have the knowledge that there is a great demand for this title. Thank you for all your hard work.”

Fan Tony Weeks said: “I’m feeling angry and disappointed. We put a lot of hard work into this. However at least we know, if they get the rights issues sorted, there is enough support to get the project off the ground.”

Fellow fan Peter Greenhill was disappointed, but thanked Mr Fitzpatrick for his efforts.

“At least we showed that this method of funding soundtrack recordings is feasible. Hopefully the rights issues will be solved and one day we’ll see a new recording.”
