Boost for cave rescue team in Dales

THE Yorkshire Dales-based Cave Rescue Organisation’s operations have been boosted with the introduction of a new off-road vehicle.

The Land Rover Defender 130 will be used as an off-road ambulance and also a personnel carrier to transport team members to incidents in the Dales and further afield. The interior was converted to provide more room, there is an external roll cage and the vehicle has been fitted with a special snorkel device which allows it to cross rivers and operate during flooded conditions.

The old Land Rover will be sold on auction site eBay in a bid to offset the cost of the new one.

The team receives no direct funding from the Government so continual fundraising is essential.”

The organisation is also looking for people to take part in a Three Peaks 24-mile walk on November 12 Last year’s walk raised £3,000 for the team. More information is available at www.cro.orguk/threepeakschallenge
