Bottles of general anaesthetic gas stolen from East Riding hospital

A DOZEN bottles of potentially dangerous gas used as a general anaesthetic were stolen from Bridlington and District Hospital this morning.

Humberside Police are appealing for the public’s help to trace the 12 blue coloured bottles of BOC Gas nitrous oxide.

The force was called just after 10.30am to investigate a report that the gas bottles had been stolen from the on Bessingby Road hospital.

They are are described as six 5ft tall royal blue bottles and six 2ft tall royal blue bottles labelled as ‘Medical Nitrous Oxide.’

A Humberside Police spokesman said: “The gas is used as a general anaesthetic by the hospital and is potentially dangerous if misused and needs to be stored appropriately.

“The gas bottles should be returned to the hospital or handed into the nearest police station.
