Box of stationery disrupts rail journeys in Leeds

There was disruption to commuters today as police closed part of Leeds Station to investigate a suspicious package – which turned out to be a box of stationery.

Officers were called at about 10am following concerns raised by members of the public over a package in the concourse area, near the Wetherspoons public house.

They cordoned off the area to carry out investigations into the contents of the package.

British Transport Police said it soon became clear that it was a box of stationery and the incident was over by about 10.30am with the station fully reopened to the public.

The incident resulted in minor disruption to passengers and shoppers, No services were cancelled.
