Boy, 12, seriously ill in hospital after being hit by taxi in Sheffield

The 12-year-old was taken to hospital with a suspected head injury yesterday afternoon.

South Yorkshire Police today said he remained in hospital in a serious but stable condition.

It is believed he was crossing the Buchanan Road at about 3pm when he was hit by a blue Skoda Superb private hire taxi.

The vehicle was travelling away from Linsday Avenue at the time of the collision.

The driver of the taxi, a 38-year-old man, was not injured.

Anyone who saw the car or the boy before the collision is asked to call 101, quoting incident number 631 of 11 January 2017.
