Boy, 13, pushed off wall by dog walker

A 13-year-old boy needed hospital treatment after being pushed off a wall by a middle-aged man out walking a dog, police said yesterday.

North Yorkshire Police are appealing for witnesses after the attack on the teenager who escaped with a minor head injury in the incident in Filey, near Scarborough.

It happened just before 6pm on Wednesday when the boy was sitting on a wall on Station Road, opposite Filey Snooker and Social Club.

Police said the teenager was pushed by the attacker, causing him to fall backwards and into some flowerbeds.

The victim sustained a minor head injury in the incident and was taken to Scarborough District Hospital for treatment.

The suspect, who is described as being aged about 40, was wearing a cowboy hat, a grey jumper, jeans and black shoes. He was walking a beagle-type dog and made off in the direction of Norman Crescent.
