Boy, 15, is killed riding bike in East Yorkshire

A 15-YEAR-OLD East Yorkshire boy was fatally injured when hit by a car while riding his bike.

The teenager, from Gilberdyke, was cycling with another 15-year-old boy from the village when the incident happened at Eastrington, near Goole.

He was in collision with a vehicle which was being driven by a 67-year-old woman from the local area.

The boy was fatally injured and later pronounced dead at hospital, while the second boy remains in Hull Royal Infirmary after suffering fractures and bruises.

His injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

The driver of the car has been arrested and is in custody, awaiting police interview.

Officers are appealing for witnesses to the crash, which happened on Thursday evening on the B1230 Hull Road, near to the Rose and Crown pub.

The pair were cycling from Howden towards Gilberdyke.
