Boy, 16, threatened at knifepoint in Huddersfield

A teenager was threatened at knifepoint while he was walking alone on a Huddersfield cycle path.

The 16-year-old walked past a man on the path between Back Honoria Street and Cobcroft Road in Fartown last night between 11pm and 11.20pm. 

He suddenly felt a tap on his shoulder from behind and was confronted by a man with a knife. The man demanded his possessions, but the boy managed to run away before anything was taken.

Detectives today issued descripton of the man they want to trace.

He was described as a black, in his early 20s, around 6ft 2in and of average build. He was wearing a black and red baseball cap, navy tracksuit and spoke with an English accent. 

Detective Constable Mick Cummings, of Kirklees CID, said: “This was a frightening ordeal for this teenager, but thankfully he was uninjured during the incident. 

“I would like to appeal to members of the public who may have seen anything suspicious in the Fartown area or recognise the description of this man to contact the police.”
