Boy, 9, found distressed after accosting attempt

A BOY aged nine was taken to a police station in a distressed state after a man tried to accost him.

The youngster was walking from Chiltern Primary School in Hull at 4.45pm on Thursday when he was approached by a man in a small red, four-door car, who said he knew the boy’s mother and asked if he wanted a lift. The man offered him a packet of sweets when the boy declined, and he refused again before running off into Boulevard. Police officers would like to speak to the woman who found the boy and took him to the police station.

A spokeswoman for Humberside Police said: “The nine-year-old was taken to Gordon Street Police Station by the woman after she found him in the street in an upset state.”

She added: “Police want to locate the woman who assisted the boy as well as anyone else with information about the incident.”

Police are also investigating the attempted accosting of a 12-year-old girl in Immingham on Wednesday by a man in a black estate car. The incidents are not thought to be linked. Anyone with information about either incident is asked to call police on the non-emergency number of 101.
