Boy dead after collision with truck in Bradford

Motorists are facing major delays in and around the Valley Road area of Bradford as police investigate the scene of a fatal collision.

West Yorkshire Police said a young boy died as a result of a collision with a Scania Tipper truck at 1.10pm today.

The boy, who was pronounced dead at the scene, is believed to have emerged in to the road between parked vehicles.

No further details about the boy have been released by the force at this stage.

Motorists and the public are asked to avoid the area to allow for the investigation team to conduct their enquiries.

A number of road closures are in place in and around Valley Road and Frizinghall Road.

Sergeant Ann Drury, of West Yorkshire Police’s Major Collision Enquiry Team, said; “Clearly, the scale and severity of this incident has caused significant disruption to commuters and the communities in Bradford, and I continue to thank people for their patience and understanding whilst we continue to conduct our investigation.

“I would also appeal to anyone who was in the area around 1.10pm this afternoon, and may have seen either the vehicle, or the young boy prior to the incident, or who witnessed the collision itself to come forward.”
