Boy of eight hit by car suffers serious injuries

An eight-year-old boy was taken to hospital after being hit by a car in South Yorkshire, police said yesterday.

The accident, involving a white Kia Sportage and the eight-year-old, who was a pedestrian, happened on Saturday afternoon in Richmond Park Avenue in Sheffield.

South Yorkshire Police said the driver of the vehicle was uninjured. They appealed for anyone with any information to come forward.

A spokeswoman for South Yorkshire Police said: “At around 2.45pm, a white Kia Sportage was travelling along Richmond Park Avenue towards Richmond Park Road when it was involved in a collision with an eight-year-old boy.

“The boy was taken to hospital with serious injuries. The 46-year-old man driving the Kia did not sustain any injuries.”
