Boy who copied hero’s haircut facing ban from football pitch

The 14-year-old apparently decided on the Mohican cut because he suffers from skin conditions on his head.

But the style, also sported by controversial Manchester City striker Mario Ballotelli, went down badly with teachers.

Dylan, a pupil at Thrybergh School and Sports College, Rotherham, was banned from playing with the school team because of his “extreme” haircut.

He has also been told that 
he may be suspended from 
classes unless he changes his hairstyle.

Dylan’s mother, Lindsay Farmer, said her son’s hair has nothing to do with his education.

She said: “He has eczema and psoriasis on his scalp that’s why he had it cut in a Mohican style.

“In June the school said it would be all right if it was flattened down. But then in September they said it was not acceptable.

“Then the day before a football match he was removed from school and told he would not be able to play unless he got it cut.”

Headteacher Bev Clubley said: “Thrybergh School and Sports college is in the top 100 of the most improved schools in the country. We are proud of our high standards.

“One of our policies relates to clear non-tolerance of extreme hairstyles. This is something that all our students and their parents are well aware of.

“In this particular instance we met with both the student and parent and believed we had come to an agreement acceptable to all.”
