Boyband add their voices to city’s summer park party

UK boyband JLS are the latest artists to be announced for this year’s Party in the Park in Leeds at the end of next month.

The multi-award winning quartet will grace the stage at Temple Newsam Park for the second time. They join chart-topping acts The Wanted, Jessie J, Example, Jay Sean and Tinchy Stryder whose appearances have already been confirmed.

Coun Adam Ogilvie, Leeds City Council’s executive member for leisure said: “It’s great to see yet another big name added to the list for this year’s Party in the Park which is shaping up to be one of the most exciting events yet.”

In the past two years, the foursome has won four Mobos, two Brit Awards and completed a sell-out arena tour across the UK. Their first two singles Beat Again and Everybody in Love both went to number one on the UK singles chart.

Party in the Park, the UK’s biggest free pop party, is organised by the council and Radio Aire and will take place on Sunday July 31.

A ballot system has been introduced this year – similar to those used for this month’s Glastonbury Festival and the London Olympics next year– to try to ensure everyone has a fair chance of getting tickets.

Anyone wishing to go can register their interest online for a maximum of four free tickets per household at www.radioaire.com/party-in-the-park until 10pm on Sunday 26 June.

No applications will be accepted after this, the organisers say.

Although Leeds residents will get priority, tickets will be selected at random with the successful applicants being informed by email by 10pm on Friday July 1.
